Frequently Asked Questions
These 1.4 ohm Regular coils are part of the SMOK Nord Coil Family and are compatible with a wide range of devices that use the original Nord Pod, including the Nord, Nord 2, Trinity Alpha, Nord AIO series, Fetch Mini (with the correct pod), and several others.
To be absolutely sure, we recommend checking your device’s instruction manual or the pod cartridge itself, which should specify compatibility with the Nord series coils. Contact us for clarifications or inquiries!
The 1.4 ohm Regular coil is specifically designed for a mouth-to-lung (MTL) experience, which provides a tighter draw, similar to a traditional cigarette. This coil is highly recommended for use with salt-based liquids and other high-PG formulations. It operates at a lower wattage (around 12W max), which is ideal for smooth delivery and flavour with those specific liquid types.
The difference lies in the design, resistance, and intended use:
- 1.4 ohm Regular Coil: This has a standard wire design and higher resistance. It is optimised for MTL use, with a tighter draw, lower power settings, and less vapour production. It works best with thinner, high-PG liquids.
- 0.6 ohm Mesh Coil: This features a mesh heating element and lower resistance. It is designed for direct-to-lung (DTL) use, higher power settings (up to 25W), faster heating, and significantly more vapour production (clouds). It is best suited for thicker, high-VG liquids.
The lifespan of any coil depends heavily on usage habits and the type of liquid used (e.g., highly sweetened liquids shorten life). Generally, moderate users can expect these 1.4 ohm coils to last between one to two weeks. You should replace the coil when you notice a decrease in flavour quality or a reduction in vapour production.
This happens when the cotton wick inside the coil is not fully saturated with liquid before it is heated. This is known as a “dry hit”. To prevent this, you must prime your coil properly:
- Drip 2-3 drops of liquid directly onto the exposed cotton ports of the new coil.
- Install the coil and fill your tank/pod.
- Let the device sit for at least 5–10 minutes to allow the liquid to fully soak into the wick.
- Start at a low power setting and take a few short puffs before using the device normally.
If you heat a dry wick even once, the cotton will scorch, and the burnt flavour will be permanent.
