How Long Do Vape Coils Last?

Why Do Vape Coils Need Changing?

There are a few reasons why your vape coil may need replacing, including:

• Burnt coil. The leading cause for a replacement is a burnt coil. When your vape begins to lose flavour and tastes burnt, your coil has reached the end of its life.
• Insufficient e-liquid supply. Puffing from a device with insufficient e-liquid (not in contact with the coil) will increase the chance of your coil burning out. Always ensure that you have enough e-liquid in your tank or pod before powering your device.
• Defective coil. If you find your coil is leaking or not working properly, it’ll need replacing. Although rare, defective coils can make their way onto shelves. If your coil is not working properly, replace it with a new one.

How Long Do Coils Last?

Whether you have a large vape mod or a smaller pod-style SMOK vape, the coil is where the magic happens. But how long do vape coils last? The lifespan of your coil will depend on your device.

Sub-ohm coils

Sub-ohm vape coils work with larger, more powerful mods. For sub-ohm coils, the resistance always sits below 1.0 Ω. This type of coil produces large vape clouds from high VG e-liquids.

The lifespan of sub-ohm coils varies depending on the brand and your vaping habits. However, a sub-ohm coil can provide a consistent vaper with four days to a week of use. If you vape less than the typical vaper, you can expect to get closer to two weeks of use.

All-in-one pods

All-in-one vape pods have a small coil to heat your favourite high-PG e-juices. They have a higher resistance and provide an experience comparable to smoking cigarettes.

The coil inside your vape pod will last four days (depending on usage). All-in-one pod systems don’t have removable coils, so the coil, pod, and mouthpiece are all disposed of and replaced as a single unit.

Pods with removable coils

Pods that utilise a removable coil allow you to replace the coil and pod separately, as required. These coils work the same as an all-in-one pod but are easy to remove.

Because they’re of a similar size, build, and resistance to all-in-one pods, removable pod coils have a similar lifespan (four days to a week). Once you notice a lack of flavour or e-liquid leakage, it’s time for a coil replacement.
